The 179th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron in Duluth flew RF-4Cs for nine years (from 1975 through 1983) using optical cameras and side-looking radar to provide up-to-date battle information. The 179th used these aircraft to fly the pre-strike recce missions over Greneda.
