The Tomy Omnibot (and brother Radio Shack Robbie Sr.) is a great robot
toy. They were developed in the mid 1980's and were very sophisticated.
Besides being remotely controlled, the Omnibot can also record motion
programs and sounds on cassette tape for autonomous operation. There
is even a clock and alarm that can trigger a stored program from tape.
The standard Omnibot has a gripper on one hand but it is not motorized.
The larger Omnibot2000 has an articulating arm and hand.
