My grandfather was a "rock-hound" and ran a rock shop in Blue Earth, MN. His favorite stones were agates, particularly Lake Superior Agates, our Minnesota state stone. My mother passed the hobby on to me and we would often walk through gravel fields after a fresh rain to search for the specific reflections of agates.
The stone below is a very large Brazilian agate that grandpa bought in Mexico and cut and polished himself. It is 9" wide x 5" tall and over 1" thick.
This is my favorite stone: to me it looks like a sunset over the ocean
as seen from a cave on a beach.
